artists i like.

art
im going to try and feature quite a few artists. but at the moment its going to have to be just these. i appreciate a lot of artists. but only worship a few. haha. so. yeah.
the particle tarot option:click a small book of black and white lies
dave mckean - yep. dave mckean is my favourite artist. his work is just amazing. and theres so much of it as well. hes released three main books 'the particle tarot' 'option:click' and 'a small book of black and white lies' (as seen above). these are all collections of photographs (using the word quite loosely). the things he does with photography and computers is just amazing. 'the particle tarot' is the most recent and is a fantastic piece of work. i wish i was even a tenth that good. the use of colour in the pictures is incredible. as is the attention to detail. some of it is so subtle. the other two books are black and white. actually 'option:click' is sepia i suppose. but are just as good (well nearly). hes just had a new book out called 'pictures that tick' which is a kinda collection of stuff hes done that hasnt been published properly and stuff. its big and expensive but way worth it. apart from those books.. hes done almost countless book comic and cd covers including the amazing covers for the sandman which are collected in 'dustcovers'. as well as covers hes also done all the artwork for several graphic novels. most of these with neil gaiman.. but arguably his best is 'arkham asylum' with grant morrison. his book 'cages' is a 500 page graphic novel all by him and makes me so jelous that one person is so good at writing as well as drawing. sigh. hes that good. i beg you to check him out (try dreamline) because its the only way i can explain his talent.

the designers republic
the designers republic - one of the best graphic design houses around and theyve been going for years. i suppose theyre most famous for doing work for pop will eat itself and the wipeout games. but theyve done much more than that. style and innovation. curly says yumm. they have a website where you can buy absurdly over priced books. blah blah blah.

ashley wood
ashley wood - i arrived at this guy from several different directions all at the same time. i had no idea it was all the same person. i was trying to chase down 'popbot'. a comic he did with sam kieth. but accidently and totally seperately id found some pictures on the internet of popbot stuff without realising it. hes also the guy who does all the really amazing spawn covers. he did hellspawn. then i found his website and suddenly these three people are the same guy. and hes really good. i have no idea how to describe his style. he has an amazing tendancy to paint naked women. it all art. his mixture of classic style and digital techniques is amazing. its slick as. his book popbot is turning into something quite special.. and his work with joe casey on automatik kafka is fantastic. check ashleys main site here. then theres the popbot website that was done by kleber. nice.

after this is over..
sam brown - i couldnt decide whether to include 'exploding dog' or not. not really knowing much about sam (like gender for one). but then i thought about it. and well..sams artwork is just so clever. some of the 'drawings' are just damn funny and others are really deep. this is a person who really sees things. people email sentences in and then sam illustrates them. pure genius. its so simple. and so good. you must go there now.
